July ’16 Wrap Up

Wrap Up July Logo

Hello everyone!

I am here today to wrap up all the things I read, posted and accomplished in July. I’m honestly surprised with what I accomplished this month. I started a full time job on the first and when I used to spend only afternoons working, I now spend the entire day working so I have less time to read. And then I thought it was a good idea to join the Booktubeathon with all that going on and I had a lot of fun but it wasn’t as successful as I wanted. And yet I still managed to read over ten books which is my goal this year. However, I read some great books this month.

SO let’s get started!

Potter Challenge: Preparing for a Magical Job

Potter Challenge Preparing for a Magical Job

Hello everyone!

I am here today to share another very special post!

My friend Aldii @ PerfectioninBooks and I have been buddy reading the Harry Potter series the last few months to accomplish my Potter Challenge this year. Last month we read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, book five of the series. We are having so much fun buddy reading as well as sharing our thoughts with you guys.

In this post, I’ll be sharing a mini review with my thoughts on the book and what kind of job I would love to have after graduating as a complete wizard from Hogwarts.

SO let’s get started!

Throwback Thursday #2

Throwback Thursday #2

Hello everyone!

It’s one of those days where my mind goes blank over what to share for BTT so I decided to take my own meme for a spin again!

Throwback Thursday is a weekly meme all over the world in which people share old photos of amazing moments in their lives. So I adjusted it to share a book that I’ve read more than 2 years ago and talk a little bit my thoughts on it.

SO let’s get started!

T5W Jul. 27th – Most Unlikable Characters

T5W Jul 27

Hello everyone!

Time for another Top 5 Wednesday. Top 5 Wednesday was created by Lainey from gingerreadslainey and is now hosted by Sam from Thoughts on Tomes and if you would like to join, here is the link for the Goodreads group with all the information.

This week’s topis is Top 5 Most Unlikable Characters and to be quite honest with you, I am damn excited to talk some serious character trash. I don’t like to be a negative Nancy but gosh, some of the characters that come out nowadays just drive me up a wall! Is it a surprise to anyone that my list is made up of female characters only?

SO let’s get started!

Booktube-A-Thon Wrap Up

BooktubeAThon Wrap Up

Hello everyone!

I am here today to talk about the books I was able to read during Booktube-A-Thon 2016. A part of me is regretting signing up for this readathon because although I had a great time, and I’ve been wanting to be a part of it for a really long time, I didn’t give the attention I wanted to. I was really busy with work and I was more interested in the buddy reads and ARC reads than on the books I’d picked out. But I did manage to read a few books that I enjoyed!

SO let’s get started!

Synopsis
The Kendricks help make the problems of the Washington elite disappear. . . . but some secrets won’t stay buried.
For Tess Kendrick, a junior at the elite Hardwicke School in Washington D.C., fixing runs in the family. But Tess has another legacy, too, one that involves power and the making of political dynasties. When Tess is asked to run a classmate’s campaign for student council, she agrees. But when the candidates are children of politicians, even a high school election can involve life-shattering secrets.
Meanwhile, Tess’s guardian has also taken on an impossible case, as a terrorist attack calls into doubt who can – and cannot – be trusted on Capitol Hill. Tess knows better than most that power is currency in Washington, but she’s about to discover firsthand that power always comes with a price.

Critically

Plot – 4.5 out of 5 stars
I thought these books could not get any better but I was totally wrong! The first book was intense but this just blew it out of the water. It’s action packed, intense, emotional, powerful and full of twists and turns and high stakes. There’s so much suspense and secrets and violence and you know never what the next page will bring. I thought I had things figured out but there are always new revelations and betrayals that you NEVER see coming. AND I WANT MORE!

Writing Style – 4 out of 5 stars
I am such a huge fan of the writing style for these books because it definitely lends well to the plot. It’s intricate but completely honest and outright. It’s fast paced and intense and it’s totally addicting and easy to fly to. I was so completely engaged into the story thanks to the writing style. Even with the dire situations, there was still humor and lighthearted moments which I really appreciated.

Characters – 5 out of 5 stars
I don’t think I could possibly fall in love with these characters more than I have from this book. They’re all special and complex and flawed and intense. Tess is amazing. She’s fierce and determined and selfless. She literally puts her life on the life for the people she loves in this book and I was in awe of her. Her character development through the series is so intense and extensive, I admired her. She’s cunning and intelligent and powerful. I want to know more about her life after the events of this book. The side characters are also completely awesome, I swear the entire cast is just so intricate. Emilia is a character that gets more of a spotlight in this book and she’s a freaking badass. I want to know more about her. Asher is a precious little cinnamon roll who owns my heart with his wit and humor and love. Vivvie is so sweet and honest, I almost want to say that she’s too innocent for this kind of book but she brings such a light to the story. Ivy has won me over. She’s so amazing and I love how hard she works to create a relationship with Tess. And then there’s Henry who just broke my heart.

Freadom Speaks About Rating Books

Freadom Speaks about Rating Books

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to my discussion feature, Freadom Speaks!

This is a topic that I have talked about before. I made a video about this when I still had my Booktube channel because it’s a huge part of booktubing and book blogging and the entire book community. But today I wanted to talk about what this topic is all about and how I personally rate books, something that has changed since I became a bigger part of the book community.

SO let’s get started!
