April ’18 Wrap Up

Hello everyone!

As you can see, there’s been some changes around here! Unfortunately, my laptop died completely a week ago and I’ll talk about it more in my Personal Thoughts. That pushed for all these new changes that you can see now. I hope you all like my new color palette and my new designs! I kind of did my best with what I could find so let me know your thoughts. Anyway, now onto talking about the books I read this month!

SO let’s get started!

Personal Thoughts

So like I said above my laptop died and it was a whole freaking ordeal. I was in the middle of writing a paper for my college class when my poor, old laptop started burning from the inside of where the charger connects to it. As I had a battery that didn’t work, that meant that I had a few minutes to get what I needed from my laptop before it couldn’t be turned on anymore. I lost a lot of my pictures and other things as well as my Photoshop. I originally got it installed from an instructor at a Photoshop class so there’s no way for me to install it in my new laptop when I get it. So I’m using a provisional one right now and worked to redesign everything to do with my blog. I’m doing it slowly but surely starting with the header for the blog and the ones for the posts. I hope you all can be patient with me as I go through all these changes!

Books I Read

  1. The Ends of the World (The Conspiracy of Us #1) by Maggie Hall –  This is one of my most anticipated books of last year and one of my most anticipated finales. I really enjoyed it but it wasn’t exactly what I thought it was going to be. The ending was really rushed and didn’t leave a lot of room for resolution. But I’m looking forward to seeing what the author writes next.
  2. Twelve (The Naturals #4.5) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes –  I didn’t know this existed til I read it and didn’t know how much I needed it until I read it! This is kind of like a future take short story of one of my favorite casts and it was life! I need more.
  3. Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows #1) by Leigh Bardugo –  GUYS! WHY DID YOU LET ME WAIT SO LONG TO READ THIS SERIES?! I was completely destroyed and my heart was shredded to pieces. And yet I loved it. I need more. Also, did you see the King of Scars cover?!
  4. Dirty Daddies by Jade West –  If you didn’t know before, I really enjoy Erotica every once in a while. Jade West is an author I recently discovered and I’ve read a few of her books since. I liked this one quite a bit but there’s not much else of her repertoire that I am interested in.
  5. Strange and Ever After (Something Strange and Deadly #3) by Susan Dennard –   I read this whole series this year and unfortunately, it was kind of up and down for me. This last book was okay. A lot of the story line was frustrating, however, there were some situations that I was definitely torn up about. I’m glad I read it.
  6. History Is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera –   I read this book with my friends from the Mom Book Club and we were all a little bit disappointed. I absolutely loved More Happy Than Not and have been wanting to read more of his books for a long time but I wasn’t as emotionally impacted with this book as I was with the other one. Not much happened plot wise and I got very frustrated with the main character and while I appreciated the end, it just wasn’t a book that blew me away.
  7. Windwitch (The Witchlands #2) by Susan Dennard – I am so close to finishing this book! I am pretty sure that I’m gonna complete it today and I’m excited because I’ve been enjoyed this series so much!
  8. The Girl with the Red Balloon (The Balloonmakers #1) by Katherine Locke – I’ve had this e-ARC for awhile and I finally made myself start it because I’ve been interested in this for a long time. It’s good so far and I can’t wait to continue!

  1. I love the new design, even though there was obviously nothing wrong with your previous one. It sucks when technology fails us like that. I tend to consider going off the grid entirely whenever one of my devices just goes to hell and I loose most my stuff, but what can you do? We need those stupid things :/

  2. Oh I really like your new graphics! Sorry to hear about your laptop though, that’s annoying, hope you’ll be able to sort everything out soon 🙂
I’m spotting Children of Blood and Bone in your haul, I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on that one!
    Have a lovely May, Sara! 🙂 x

  3. I read Truthwitch when it first came out, and it was such a struggle to read. I found it incredibly boring. I wish that I would have liked it as much as everyone else but unfortunately I didn’t. I don’t think that I will every carry on with the series but I am willing to give her other books a go.
