June ’18 TBR – Physical Books Theme

Hello everyone!

I am back with my presumed second and last post of the month. I will be doing some classes during the summer so who knows if I’ll have time to write reviews like I want but I will try so we’ll see how it goes. This theme is a little bit special because it’s new. Since moving back to the U.S., I’ve, not surprisingly, accumulated a lot of books, a lot that I have read and want to own but also several that were on my TBR. Those are the ones that I will be trying to read this month.

SO let’s get started!

First Order of Business:
The Spy with the Red Balloon (The Balloonmakers #2)
by Katherine Locke

This is again on my list as I didn’t get a chance to read it last month. The end of the first book was insane and I was so excited to continue and then I figured out that it was a companion book, I wanted to cry! Not because I am not looking forward to more of the story but because I wanted to know more about the first group of characters. We’ll see what this installment has in store.

The Mom Book Club:
The Poet X
by Elizabeth Acevedo

My friends and I decided on this book for the month! I’m really excited to delve into a book with Latinx inspirations. I also think that this book is written in verse maybe? I don’t know a lot but I can’t wait to get started!

Read It While It’s Hot Challenge:
Bruja Born (Brooklyn Brujas #2)
by Zoraida Cordova

GO BUY THIS BOOK! It just came out yesterday and I want everyone to get their hands on it because it’s an amazing series! I am currently reading this book and my heart is already in pieces. I am finishing it this month and making sure everyone reads it too! SO GO GET IT!

Read Like a Grown Up Challenge:
The Nest
by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney

I got this book as a Christmas gift from my brother. I don’t really know a lot about it but I want to give it a chance. My mom read it and she didn’t hate it so we’ll see what happens haha. Let me know if you’ve read it before and what you thought!

Stand with the Loners Challenge:
Love & Gelato
by Jenna Evans Welch

My mom got this book for us to read together and I still haven’t read it yet. I’ve been wanting to read this book for awhile now and I hope I can get to it soon because I could really use something light and fluffy right now.

Fadwa’s Picks:
Children of Blood and Bone (Legacy of Orisha #1)
by Tomi Adeyemi

Children of Blood and Bone Cover

Fadwa @ Word Wonders set me up with the task of reading this book last month and I didn’t manage to get to it. But, I hope this month I will find the time so she can keep recommending more great books for me to read on a monthly basis.

Catch Up with the Release Challenge:
Zodiac, Wandering Star, Black Moon and Thirteen Rising
by Romina Russell

I own this entire series in hardback and have yet to read any of them haha. One of my close friends has read this series though and she’s been waiting for me to read it so I have to at least start it this month. That is one of my main goals in June.

Continuing Series:
The Case for Jamie, Hunting Prince Dracula and Ingenue
by Brittany Cavallaro, Kerri Maniscalco and Jillian Larkin

All of these are books I already have from the library. So I am definitely gonna read them all so we’ll see if I manage to read them all this month or not. I would hate to renew them all again because I don’t have enough time to read them but hopefully it won’t come to that.

Goodreads Goodreads Goodreads

Currently Reading:
Second Position
by Katherine Locke

I am halfway through Second Position and I am really enjoying it though its a super angsty read. I hope to finish this book by the end of the week.

Goodreads Goodreads

The Burning Maze (The Trials of Apollo #3)
by Rick Riordan

I got this book last week and I wanna pick it up so bad! I am really into this series at the moment because it’s so action packed and funny. I need stuff like this in my life right now so I wanna get to this book right now.

Lock and Key
by Sarah Dessen

My mom just bought this one and I am really excited to read it. I have read two Sarah Dessen books and I really enjoy her work so I wanted to own and try a few more. I heard good things about this one from my mom so this is high on my priority list.

A Crown of Wishes (The Star-Touched Queen #2)
by Roshani Chokshi

Another hardcover that I own that I haven’t read. Honestly, it’s the theme of this TBR so I shouldn’t keep repeating myself. However, I loved the first book of this series and I need to read this one ASAP.

Raised by Wolved (Raised by Wolves #1)
by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

This is the first book that I ever bought from Jennifer Lynn Barnes and I enjoyed it the first time I read it. As of now, I’ve read two other series of hers and she’s become one of my favorite authors so I want to give this series a re-read and hopefully finish it.

The Hollow (The Hollow #1)
by Jessica Verday

Another book that I want to re-read so I can finish the series and figure out how I feel about it. I don’t remember my thoughts on this one very well but I remember the plot and I’m still interested in it.

So that’s it for this post! I might have given myself too many books specially since I’m gonna be super busy with work and school for about the rest of the month. We’ll see how well I do with everything. I’d love to know what you guys think of the books I’m planning on reading this month specially if you’ve read them before! Thanks so much for reading and I’ll see you on my next post!

  1. Good luck with your classes and all these books! I’ve also been wanting to read Zodiac for a while! I hope you like it. 🙂 I read Lock and Key a while ago, but I do remember enjoying it. I don’t read a lot of Sarah Dessen anymore, but I’ve never disliked any of the books that I’ve read by her.

Have a great rest of your June!

  2. I loved The Burning Maze!! It’s definitely a middle book and a lot darker, but still had all the things in that make me love Rick Riordan books!! I need to read Bruja Born, The Poet X and A Crown of Wishes too! I also want to pick up Blood and Bone, but I’m scared of the size and the fact that it’s high fantasy 😂
